Please note that the IOM offices in Afghanistan are operating with limited capacity. IOM currently is not implementing programmes to provide any movement, transportation, evacuation, relocation, or resettlement support in Afghanistan.

IOM Assistance in Afghanistan
IOM's current programming in Afghanistan is implemented in line with the IOM Comprehensive Action Plan for Afghanistan and Neighbouring Countries and focuses on the following types of assistance:
- Emergency Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFI)

Emergency Shelter and Non-Food Items (NFI), including winterization support such as cash, winter clothing, fuel, and stoves; NFI kits (including household items such as kitchen sets, blankets, and solar lamps); and shelter support (including shelter tool kits, tents, and tarpaulins).
- Protection
-
Protection for undocumented returnees from Iran and IDPs with specific needs includes post-arrival protection assistance (emergency accommodation and safe transportation to province of return), and case management assistance (information, referrals to specialist services and one-off cash assistance).
Locations: Badakhshan, Balkh, Faryab, Ghor, Herat, Kabul, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Nimroz, Sar-E-Pul, Takhar
- Health Assistance

Health assistance, such as provision of lifesaving health services, including reproductive health service; COVID-19 PCR testing and vaccination through IOM Mobile Health Teams (MHTs) and Rapid Response Teams (RRTs); mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) that is provided by IOM psychosocial support counsellors attached to the MHTs. The target population include returnee Afghans and vulnerable communities living in the hard to reach and underserved IDP settlements and host communities.
Locations: Kabul, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Helmand, Nimroz, Heart, Ghor, Badghis, Balkh, Kunduz, Takhar and Badakhshan
- Cross-border return and reintegration

Cross-border return and reintegration, including immediate humanitarian post-arrival assistance to vulnerable undocumented Afghans at the major border crossings with Pakistan and Iran, such as temporary accommodation, hot meals, onward transportation assistance, food packages as well as cash for transportation
